We decided to do this hike about 3:30 and the last start time is 4pm. Needless to say, we raced to the trailhead, then only had 45 min to make it to the caves for our tour instead of the normal 1.5 hours...
It was hard.
Ruby got super thirsty once we got into the caves. It was seriously PITCH black, we were cracking up!
Trying to keep her warm in the chilly cave:
Our tour guide was really great. We liked how she kept telling us that "these caves and this land is YOURS."
Pretty stellar view from the top.
This makes Ruby's 9th hike of her life. She's kind of a mini ranger by now.

Here we are in our red, white and blue!
Meeting more friends:
And basically just being the center of attention.
And then we went to "the yard."
I didn't know I joined a family who has a full nursery.
Every kind of plant you can imagine + palm trees + heaps of fire wood.
We spent the afternoon at Tom's Farms. Scott wanted to do all the games:
And that was our final day in California! Ruby was a champ on the plane... way to go girl!

We took a tour of Newport Harbor! SueAnn had Groupons to fulfill and it was a perfect activity for us! The boat left right near Balboa pier...
And we just rode around looking at all the stars homes.
This one is owned by the owners of The Four Seasons. I hear their wait staff is superb!
I can't remember whose this one is, but one that we saw was bought by Shirley Temple for her family when she was only 13 years old!
Rock Hudson, John Wayne, Chuck Norris, Bob Hope, George Burns, Bette Midler, and Nicholas Cage are a few I remember who own or have owned homes here.
This is the site for Gilligan's Island!
We past a clothing store where you must have an appointment to shop, and pay a cover charge just to get in! Super fancy.
And a little lunch overlooking the ocean
Down to the water for a little sand time!
R was pretty hard to push up the hill...
Another good day in California!

Day 4 found us at the Mormon Batallion site in San Diego!
I was shocked how much I enjoyed the presentation and how much I learned about the soldiers and their families. Joining the US Army was an answer to prayer as they needed food and provisions for their journey west. Sometimes answers come in ways we don't expect. These people had tons of faith and were blessed as they followed the Lord's plan, even when it seemed difficult.
Panning for Gold!
And then we ate some gooood Mexican food in Old Town San Diego!
Ruby's best trick may be feeding herself!
We went to the temple- so beautiful!
And ended the day with a swim in the Davider's pool. Ruby is a total water baby!
Outfit-less and happy on the ride home!
