Orem Rehab Dance

We had quite the time at the dance party Friday night. There was a disco ball and all! Scott was quite the ladies man:

Here's a close up. She loved her hairpiece, and had her nails painted for the occasion :)

Most of the residents stayed seated in their chairs, so "dancing" constituted a lot of arm swinging!

This woman told me that Angie is her "favorite person in the whole wide world."

Oh Barbara! She loved dancing with Scott!

Thella. Oh the stories. Well all I have to say is that I'm so impressed Angie can understand her!

See the disco ball now?

I met a deaf man and we spent a good 1/2 hour chatting in sign. It is SO SO fun to connect with people through sign language. I remembered so much in just that short practice time!

Scott's Birthday

September 21 started out with a few fun presents:

And waffles on the "You are Special Plate" for breakfast!

SueAnn sent him an Edible Arrangements to share at work!

We went out for dinner, just us, and then we had some friends over for decadent desserts! The oreo truffles were a big hit, the
red velvet cake
was Scott's favorite!

This was the inagural use of the crystal cake platter we got for our wedding!
And by special request, we had an ice cream roll-up cake!

Have I mentioned how much I love Scott's orange hair? :) Well, I love it!

Happy Birthday Scott!

Do you believe this is the THIRD year we celebrate birthdays together?
2 years ago we were just getting things started...

Here is an excerpt from my blog post back then (beware: it's pretty hilarious):

Sometimes you just want to give ambitious, qualified, attractive 25 year olds a kick in the pants! But hey, I like friends, and he's a great guy. BUT... my girly self just couldn't resist making him a birthday banner. Thanks to Jessica Bean for getting me in the habit, and mom for the killer Christmas present (banner paper), I whipped this out yesterday afternoon and posted it with Megan before church this morning. I was pretty, okay, very nervous to do it, but I figure the sign merely says "Happy Birthday Scott." Can't be toooo forward, right? I give up on Scott about once a week, but his personality is just so dang addictive! He seems the type good at being "just friends." Any suggestions?

That was funny, right?

Then, just 1 year later to the day, he proposed.

From that post comes this excerpt:

Scott said, "Actually, I have a surprise for you!" Scott probably remembers the next part a little better than I do... I just remember screaming and feeling so SO excited. In my mind I was thinking, "this better not be a joke!" As he got down on one knee, I quickly took off the rings I already had on and shoved them in my back pocket. Scott told me why he loved me and then asked me to marry him! I was SO SO HAPPY and of course said "YES!" Scott was crying a little bit, and I was just SO SO excited!
Now, over half way through our first year of marriage, we celebrate Scott's birthday again!

(no pics from today yet, but this was from the other week in CA)

I feel so lucky to be married to my best friend.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SCOTT!

What a ride!

Did I mention that we stopped for a quick ride at the state line?

We had so much fun riding the

Desperado

with Josh and Katrina!

After a quick $1 Shrimp cocktail, we were on our way.

Thanks for making it such a fun trip Josh and Katrina- you were fantastic car trip buddies!

Can YOU Fon-DUE?

We spent about 4 hours after church preparing the broth, sauces and meats for our fancy fondue party. These dinner parties require lots of preparation, but it is worth it; Probably once, maybe twice a year. It's a lot of prep work, and a lot of dishes.
But Very tasty!
Dane and Korine brought our first course: Cheese fondue.
Scott and I served the main course: meat!

And Vess and Angie provided the fixings for the best course of all: Chocolate fondue with all the fruit you can handle.
Some of you may wonder how you can eat a full dinner off of skewers. Well let me tell you:
Very Slowly.

You must only have a fondue party with friends who can shoot the breeze for hours. Because it takes about 5 minutes to cook each bite of meat. Maybe you're wondering if you can really get full off some caulifower dipped in decadent cheese, meat cooked to perfection in hot broth, and a chocolate strawberry on a stick. The answer is: YOU CAN. And you will. We were all so stuffed we had to have a 20 minute rest before we took the dog for a walk.

Labor Day in California

It's a long drive but it is always worth it.

Not just for the delicious shishkabobs...

but for the family and friends!

and of course for Tilly.

Naturally, we found our way to the beach:
(Carlsbad)

We got in touch with our hispanic roots in Old Towne San Diego:

And maybe my favorite part was watching the kits surfers at Mission Bay!
But watching the amateur sailors capsize was pretty humorous :)

Another holiday weekend is gone with no regrets,
xoxo,
Scott and Stefanie

Whittle Reunion

The Whittle reunion was this past weekend at Heber Valley Camp. What a fantastic place! The cabins were clean and new, the showers and toilets were nice, and we even had a moose visit our camp! Heber Valley Camp is the only camp in the church that is under the direction of the temple committee.
We didn't take too many pictures, but we did have fun playing Big Booty, Signs, and improv games. Oh, and the "name game" or Times Up as the Tanners know it!

If you have never been to Dairy Keen in Heber, then
GO NOW!
Honestly, what could possibly get in the way of you, eating a fresh peach/raspberry shake!
Soooo Delish!

Be Kind Anyway

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self centered..

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives..

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends and true enemies..

Succeed Anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you..

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building someone could destroy overnight..

Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, others may be jealous,

be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will forget tomorrow..

Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have and it may never be good enough..

Give the world the best you have anyway.

You see, in the final analysis it is between you and God.

It was never between you and "them" anyway.

~Mother Theresa.
