This Pinterest inspired gift was a total hit!
I felt bad life was all about ME that last... idk, month of pregnancy. Scott was always looking out for me and trying to make things easier for me. So, on one of those long days past my 40 week mark, I put together this Thursday, May 31, 2012

Grandpa Tanner
Although it didn't come as a surprise, letting go of Grandpa Tanner is hard to do!
He was
happy,
generous,
honest,
thankful,
encouraging...
the list could go on and on.
Grandpa taught his eight children, and 50+ grandkids what it means to be a Tanner.
I am proud to carry his name.
Grandpa and his boys :)
He is leaving a rich legacy that embodies all things noble and good.
I will miss eating Red Vines together and greeting him with a hug and kiss at each visit.
And... to lighten the mood: HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Heather!
Can't wait to be reunited with all 3 of my siblings for Grandpas funeral next week.
I love being a Tanner!
Outings
We've had some fun outings lately. My favorite was a trip up to Kamas to enjoy a cheese platter together. It's become one of our favorite things to stop at Harmon's on the way up the canyon and select 1-3 fancy cheeses to try.
We are getting fairly well versed in our bries, triple creams, camembert cheeses, and plenty of others. Ruby likes dairy too. Mostly milk.
Also, American Fork canyon is one of our favorite places to go...
We find ourselves there at least once a week.
The Baby Bjorn is working out swimmingly.
Love my little girl!

SALSA
In efforts to meet our new baby girl, we made SPICY salsa on my due date. And we made a LOT of it!
Check out all the peppers!
and, the belly at its fullest....
We tried the tip from Abeline (from The Help) using a matchstick to prevent the tears.
It kind of worked...
Lots and lots of salsa!
And then I sat outside and pounded a bunch of this spicy stuff. I don't think it did any good.
But it sure tasted good!

A little update
Can I just say how great it is to sleep on my stomach again? It is GREAT! Labor/Delivery was a piece of cake compared to pregnancy.
Life is good. Our little Ruby is learning how to eat, play, then sleep. She hardly fusses for any of her visitors. Ruby falls asleep every time we start driving, and she loves going hiking in the Bjorn. We try to get her out and about every day. I want her to know when it is day and when is night- she doesn't seem to be paying attention, but her internal rhythms must be catching on, right? Plus, getting her out will hopefully expose her to some of the pollens and just enough dirt in the air to get her immune system strong. She's got to be ready for summer travel in just a few weeks!
Maybe my favorite part of the day is watching Daddy come home and go straight for his baby girl. They are very cute together!
I am keeping busy as ever. Between keeping the house clean, planning and shopping for meals, getting together with friends, and of course, nursing, holding and playing with my baby girl, the days seem to fly by! Well, I'm off to get ready for her doctor's appointment. Little Ruby got busted for not returning to her birthweight by week 2. We had the weekend to fatten her up before she gets weighed today. Wish us luck, hopefully she has gained!

2 Weeks
So obviously blogging hasn't been a huge priority this last two weeks...
Mostly we are spending our days and nights adoring our sweet Ruby.
And... we spend a fair amount of time planning and executing photos like this one:
She is absolutely precious to us and we are thrilled to be a healthy family of three!

We are home!
Our baby is HERE! I haven't quite finished writing up the birth story... but, I wanted to check in and say that we are not only alive but doing well!
This last week has been crazy busy, but mostly Scott and I are enjoying getting to know our little angel. She is a good sleeper and we're getting past nursing challenges- I'm confident we'll be in a rhythm in no time! Scott has been a SAINT changing so many diapers, getting up with me in the night to help her eat, cleaning up the house and taking care of me. I couldn't ask for a better support. He is SO precious with her and we are loving every one of our daughters "firsts."
- First bath
- First outing (to none other than American Fork Canyon)
- First time wearing new bows or using cute blankets...
- First photo shoot! (Wow, that was a fun, full on experience!)
Hopefully I'll check back in soon, but no promises. I'm kind of obsessed with holding the babe instead of my computer these days.

Moving Along
Well, things are finally happening! I've been having real contractions for over 24 hours now. They've been 5 minutes apart for almost 15 hours. It's really tiring. We had the longest night ever which got most exciting about 4:30 am when we went to the hospital. Even though they watched me for an hour and I was still contracting every 5 minutes, I wasn't changing as much as I needed to be admitted. Thankfully I got some Percocet and in turn, a few hours of sleep this morning. The contractions are still coming and my doc is on call tonight, so hopefully things will continue progressing and pick up from here!
Scott went into work for a few hours this morning (after ZERO sleep) and when he left at about 11, his team sent out a guessing game for how big our baby will be. So, same goes for you: How much do you think baby Hathaway will weigh? Closest guess will win a prize :)

Ready to Go!
The neighbors must think we are crazy. We go for about an 1.5-2 hour walk every night between about 7 and 9. Lots of the ward are out in their yards or at the park. It's the same every day, "No baby yet?"
I don't really know what to say because obviously there is no baby or Scott wouldn't be dragging my big belly across the parking lot again!
- Walk one foot on the curb one foot off
- Eat spicy food
- Pray for a storm to roll in and change the barometric pressure
- Yoga gravity pose
- Meditation and visualization
- Bumpy car rides
- Marching stairs
- Bouncing on an exercise ball
- Telling the baby "it's okay to come out now."
We left yesterdays doctor's appointment a little discouraged. I'm not as far along as I hoped (well, I was wishing for a 10!) and we have a scheduled induction for next Tuesday. NEXT Tuesday. Going in, I was committed to not wrestling through one more night, and then I left with a week to go. It is obviously best for the baby to come on her own, but really? She's taking forever. Hopefully I won't have to wait another week, but she will come this week on her own. I'm thinking Cinco de Mayo sounds like a really great day. This baby has always loved Selena...
I feel like I have lots of things coming to the hospital with us... doesn't that look like a lot?
My bag. Diaper bag with Baby's things. Car seat and breast pump. Boppy.
Hopefully I will use these things SOONER than later!
